Persistent files for AI agents: keep work between chats
A new Claude or Grok chat starts with no memory. With a clawd.run computer, your AI saves notes and logs to files and picks them up in the next chat.
Every new chat with Claude or Grok starts from zero. Anything the AI found last time is gone unless you paste it back in. clawd.run fixes that by giving your AI its own computer with files that stay between chats. The AI writes its notes, logs and results to files, and the next chat reads them first.
How it works in practice
In the recorded demo on Oct 6, 2026, two separate chats ran 33 minutes apart on one clawd computer. The first chat checked a page and wrote a log to watch/hn.md. The second chat had no memory of the first, so it started by calling read_file on that log, then compared the page against it and appended the new entry with write_file. The file did the remembering. See both chats step by step.
A prompt to start with
This is the research job from the homepage. Paste it into Claude or Grok once your computer is connected:
Find three recent reviews of standing desks under $500 and save the main pros and cons of each to research/desks.md. If that file already exists, read it first and only add what's new.
The second half is the important part. Telling the AI to read the file first and only add what is new turns a one off answer into notes that grow across chats.
Files plus a browser plus a shell
Files are one of three things on the computer. The browser stays logged in, so the AI can fetch what goes into the files. The shell runs commands inside the computer's home directory, with a 30 second default timeout and up to 120 seconds, for work like listing, sorting or reshaping files. A file can also be the input: the homepage form job reads rows from signups.csv, fills a web form for each one, and writes the confirmation numbers to signups-done.csv.
Asleep between chats, files intact
The computer stops on its own when it is idle and wakes on the next call. In the recording it had stopped after 5 idle minutes and woke in 2.5 seconds, with the log file exactly where the first chat left it. Billing counts awake time only: $10 a month for 60 active hours, and a 5 hour free trial with no card. clawd.run is on a waitlist right now.
Setting it up takes one link. See how to give Claude a computer or how to give Grok a browser.
