Creating and configuring an agent
Launch Hermes or OpenClaw, connect a model provider, and understand where settings are saved.
Create a running agent
Go to your agents after subscribing through LaunchPad. Solo includes its named product; Bundle includes both. Choose Launch on the product card, then Open. A plan that does not include a product is rejected by the launch endpoint.
Read the state
Idle means there is no workspace record for that card. Asleep means it has been provisioned but is not marked running. Running means the workspace record reports it is active.
Use Open to enter or wake
Open asks the provisioner for the current workspace and opens its dashboard. It can also update an older workspace image. If a popup is blocked, the app falls back to opening the agent in the current tab.
Sleep when finished
Sleep stops the agent machine. It does not cancel your subscription. Open wakes a provisioned agent again.
Choose how the model is paid for
Connect sub on an agent card shows the instructions for connecting your own provider subscription. Hermes directs you to Providers / Models inside its dashboard. OpenClaw shows provider login commands to run in its Console. Use the refresh control on the card to check the detected sign-in status.
The separate Bring your own key panel accepts OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, or xAI. Choose the provider, enter your API key privately, and select Save key. The panel shows a masked key after saving and offers Remove. Your provider's own usage charges and limits still apply.
Older OpenClaw configuration
The older OpenClaw configuration page edits three files: SOUL.md (personality), IDENTITY.md (identity), and USER.md (about you). Save writes the selected file to the account's stored file record. That action does not itself write the file into the running sandbox, so a Saved message is not proof that a live agent has changed.
Its API key panel says Keys saved. Reprovision to apply. Do not expect all configuration changes to take effect instantly. This older configuration flow is separate from the LaunchPad agent dashboards.
